The making of a made-to-measure suit at Atelier Mesure is a process optimised through modern technology. In 4 weeks (5 for hand-finished), we create your suit perfectly fitted to your body type. Our approach combines human expertise and technological precision for an optimal result.

Unlike off-the-rack, your suit begins to exist only after your order. Your expert advisor takes your measurements, tries on a sample jacket with you to note the necessary adaptations, then your fabric is laser-cut according to your adapted measurement profile. Appointment 1: Consultation, Measurements & Sample Fitting

A complete first appointment in our Parisian atelier. Your expert advisor guides you through understanding your needs, choosing your fabric and style, then taking your measurements and trying on a sample jacket to define the necessary adaptations.

DURATION: 90-120 minutes in a private, personalised setting. PROCESS: Discussion of your needs (professional use, events, weddings?). Exploration of our fabric library (500+ references). Style selection (two/three-piece, double-breasted/single-breasted, lapels, pockets). Selection of finishes (buttons, lining, monogram). MEASUREMENTS: 25+ precise body measurements taken by your advisor. Each measurement is carefully recorded to guarantee a perfect fit. SAMPLE FITTING: You try on an existing sample jacket in your size. Your advisor notes all adaptations needed for your body type (shoulders, length, waist suppression, etc.). This information will be used to adapt the pattern to your body. CONFIRMATION: Final quote confirmed. Payment at order. Production lead time stated (4 weeks standard, 5 for hand-finished, 3 if express).

Production: 4 Weeks in the Atelier

4 weeks

Your suit enters production. The pattern is adjusted to your body type according to the notes from the first appointment. Your fabric is laser-cut for optimal precision, then assembled according to the chosen construction type.

PATTERN ADAPTATION: Your advisor uses the software to adjust the base pattern according to your 25+ measurements and the notes from the sample fitting. The pattern is personalised for your body type (asymmetries, posture, proportions). LASER CUTTING: Once the pattern is finalised, your fabric is laser-cut with millimetre precision. This technology guarantees a perfect, rapid cut. ASSEMBLY: Your suit is assembled according to the chosen construction type: fused (the fastest), half canvas (balance of quality and value), full canvas (premium finishes), or hand-finished (entirely hand-sewn, 5 weeks). Canvas, sleeves, collar, lining, pockets: each element is assembled with care. FINISHES: Buttonholes, buttons, hems, professional pressing. Complete quality control before notification. LEAD TIME RELIABILITY: 98% of our suits are ready within the stated lead time. You are informed of progress in real time.

Appointment 2: Fitting & Collection (or Alterations)

30-45 min

The moment of truth: you try on your finished suit. In 60% of cases (3 out of 5 clients), everything is perfect and you leave directly with your suit. For the remaining 40%, minor alterations are needed and carried out within a timeframe adjusted to your needs.

COMPLETE FITTING: You put on your complete suit (jacket, trousers, waistcoat if three-piece). Your advisor checks the fit with you: shoulders, sleeve length, waist suppression, trouser length, overall comfort. Movement tests: raise your arms, sit down, walk. The suit must be comfortable in every situation. TWO SCENARIOS: 1) DIRECT COLLECTION (60% of cases): Everything is perfect! You leave with your suit, the protective garment bag, spare buttons and our care guide. 2) ALTERATIONS NEEDED (40% of cases): Minor adjustments required (shorten sleeves by 1cm, adjust trouser hem, slightly refine the waist, etc.). Your advisor notes the modifications. Alterations lead time adjusted to your needs (typically 7-10 days). GUARANTEE: If the fit is not perfect, we remake it until you are completely satisfied. This is our Perfect Fit or Remade commitment.

Alterations If Needed: Final Adjustments

If adjustments are needed after the first fitting (40% of cases), our atelier carries out the alterations within 7-10 days, or adjusted to your urgency if needed.

COMMON ALTERATIONS: Shortening or lengthening sleeves by a few centimetres. Adjusting the trouser hem (often linked to shoe choice at the fitting). Slightly refining the waist suppression. Adjusting jacket length. These adjustments are normal and included. LEAD TIME: 7-10 days standard. If you have an urgent need (imminent event), let us know: we will do our utmost to expedite. FINAL FITTING: Once alterations are complete, you return for a quick final fitting (10-15 min) and leave with your suit. INCLUDED: All alterations are included in the initial price. No unwelcome surprises.

Why only one fitting when some offer 3 fittings?

A well-conducted fitting suffices in the majority of cases. OUR APPROACH: At the first appointment, you already try on a sample jacket that allows your advisor to note precisely all necessary adaptations. The pattern is then adapted digitally with precision. RESULT: 60% of our clients (3 out of 5) leave directly with their suit at the first fitting. Perfect from the first attempt. FOR THE REMAINING 40%: Minor alterations are needed (adjust hem, sleeves, etc.), carried out within 7-10 days. Then a quick final fitting. Is laser cutting as precise as manual cutting?

Yes, and even more precise. LASER CUTTING: Millimetre precision, impossible to achieve manually with shears. Cuts the pattern perfectly without variation. Absolute respect for the lines of the pattern adapted to your body type. MANUAL CUTTING: Even the finest artisan has micro-variations (+/-2-3mm). Human fatigue after several hours. Risk of error on complex fabrics (stripes, checks). FINAL QUALITY: Identical or superior. What matters is the quality of the pattern adaptation (done by your expert advisor) and the quality of assembly (done according to the chosen type: fused, half canvas, full canvas, or hand-finished). MODERNITY: We use technology to gain in precision and speed, without sacrificing artisanal quality.

Can I speed up the lead time for an urgent event?

Yes, with our express option. EXPRESS OPTION: 1-week reduction. 3 weeks instead of 4 (except hand-finished). Price supplement applies. Availability subject to atelier workload. CONDITION: Fabric must be in stock (no special supplier order). ALTERNATIVE IF VERY URGENT: If the lead time is truly too short (under 3 weeks), we will tell you honestly. We prefer to decline rather than deliver an imperfect suit. Possibility of quality suit hire in the interim. Or order now for future events. RECOMMENDATION: For a wedding or important event, plan 2-3 months ahead. This gives you margin and avoids stress.

Is my measurement profile kept for future orders?

Yes, for a minimum of 10 years. RETENTION: Your adapted measurement profile is saved digitally with cloud backup. Your 25+ measurements are also archived with your advisor's notes. FUTURE ADVANTAGES: If you order a second suit and your body type has not changed, the process is even quicker. No need to retake all detailed measurements. The base pattern already exists. Time saved at the first appointment and in production. REGULAR CLIENTS: After several orders, you become a priority client. You know the process, your advisor knows you, choices are quicker. SECURITY: Even if you do not order for 5-8 years, your measurement profile remains accessible. We do not delete anything before 10 years.

What happens if I gain or lose weight during production?

Minor variation is generally not a problem. SLIGHT VARIATION (+/-2kg over 4 weeks): Very little impact on the fit. The fitting will identify if an adjustment is needed. Minor alterations are possible. SIGNIFICANT VARIATION (+/-5kg+): This can pose a problem. Let us know as soon as possible. Depending on the stage of production, we may be able to adjust the pattern. If the fabric has already been cut, options are limited. In extreme cases, postponing the order is preferable. ADVICE: If you are dieting or building muscle, wait until your weight has stabilised before ordering. A perfectly fitted suit requires a stable weight.
